Attention all followers!
Consider this a straight-up plea for help to signal boost the bejeezus out of a program I am launching at my library here in Toronto, geared at all young fanfiction writers who want to meet up with other teens IRL to discuss and critique each others’ writing and generally spend some time hanging out being awesome.
The Teen Fanfiction Writers’ Coalition is coming to Toronto Public Library.
This project is really close to my heart, and it’s also a complete first for my library system—maybe a first for any library system, who knows? All I know for sure is there are literally tens of thousands of teens out there who write and share their fiction online, and as a teen librarian I want to give them a safe space to come and meet likeminded youth out in their own city.
Held at Cedarbrae Library in Scarborough, meetings will take place on the last Friday of every month, beginning April 25th, from 4:30-6:00 pm. We might add sessions depending on what demand is like. All fanfiction writers ages 12 to 18 are invited. I don’t care if you’re a seasoned fanfic writer or just starting out; just come. We also encourage any original writing you’d like to share. Most importantly, all ships and fandoms are welcome. This is a 100% safe space for anything you happen to support and like writing about. Tell your friends. Get your friends to tell their friends. I want to see a complete fanfiction takeover up in this joint.
Anyone who has more questions can feel free to leave me an ask. More information is also available through the Toronto Public Library website here, or you can click the hi-res version of the above flyer for more details.
To everyone else: please, please, reblog the crap out of this. There’s a good chance some of your followers are teens living in Toronto or the surrounding area, and if this can provide a creative outlet for even a few of them, I will consider it a job well done.
